USB Extension cable for PSP
- PSPUE1 Compatible
with PSP-1000 (Fat) and PSP-2000 (Slim) Many
users find using Sony PSP-290 GPS away from PSP improves the GPS signal as PSP
is generating some interference to the GPS due to the proximity of the 2 devices,
and that it is too far away from windscreen when it is used inside a car.
We do sell a mini-USB extension cable in CMUE.
But PSP-290 requires power which is provided by the connections on either side
of the mini-USB port. We had been asked to consider making such cable. But cost
of developing such cable is high and we do not expect to recoup even the cost
with the expected sales quantity/price. We have been offering a DIY
solution for some time.
Still many users are uncomfortable
with DIY. Therefore we have come up with a compromise - PSPUE1.
We do not make a professional mold as the cost would be high.
We are doing sort of DIY on your behalf. It is made in our Hong Kong workshop
by our Engineers/Technicians, not in China. Therefore the cost is a bit higher.
USB port in PSP
Cable length is 150cm so it is plenty.
You can also connect 2 or more to make it longer.
Only the power pin is
connected. Pin is spring loaded
Only the power contact is connected.
Ground contact is not connected but the contact is there to make better connection
for your GPS/Camera.

FAQ; Why
is only one pin connected? Will it affect the operation? There
are 2 main reasons: 1. The other pin is ground. Ground pin is connected within
the mini-USB cable and is interconnected with the outer ground pin. So it is not
necessay to connect the outer ground pin. Operation of device connected to it
is not affected, as long as it is mini-USB device such as PSP-290
GPS and Go Cam/Chotto Shot. 2.
It is easier to fit a 6-wire cable inside the mini-USB connectors than a 7 wire
cable. It is also more difficult to find a cable with similar diameter with the
thickest wire available. As well as this, it also reduces labour cost by not connecting
one extra wire, which does make a difference.
Can
you make a long extension cable? It is very rare you do need
a longer cable. In case you do, you can connect 2 or more extension cables together.
